In a month that celebrates love and hearts, we see and think about love in all its manifestations - A good way to learn to see with love is to study our sense of love within, in a deeper sense - perhaps how we think about love and how we love ourselves. The love that then flows outwards naturally.

The 4th chakra (or energy center in the spiritual body) is known as the heart chakra or Anahata (in Sanskrit - meaning flawless). When we tap into this chakra we find a wellspring of unconditional love. The heart chakra is located in the centre of the chest and the colour green is most prominently shown to be its visual representative, although it is said that the colour pink can also be used to soothe an over or under active heart chakra. The musical note most closely associated with the heart is "F" and in the world of crystals, we can balance and heal with the use of rose quartz, jade, malachite, emerald and peridot.

There is a world of essential oils that can be used in support of and to open the heart chakra as well - melissa, benzoin, neroli, bergamot, jasmine, carrot, lavender, spikenard, black pepper, sage, hyssop, cinnamon, bay laurel, palmarosa and most notably, rose - rose soothes emotions, eases grief and depression and helps you to find your own beauty, which in turns connects you to self love. It cleanses and strengthens the body, mind and spirit connection and aids in elevating sexual energy to a spiritual plane.

You can put your own blend of these essential oils into action through a diffuser, in a bath or with a carrier oil for a loving massage.

This Valentine's day, take good care of yourself and your loved ones - from the heart(chakra)
